60-mile and 30-mile bicycle rides
Starting at 8:30am

The rides (they aren't races) begin at the Charleston Maritime Center (map - 10 Warfside St, Charleston, SC 29401), follow Concord street, pass Waterfront Park and continues to The Battery. Then around South Battery to Rutledge Avenue, riders will pass Colonial Lake, ride around Hampton Park and then the Citadel and continue, riding over the James Island Expressway out to Sol Legare Road (the 30-mile riders turn around here). From there, the 60-mile riders head out to Folly Beach to see the Morris Island Lighthouse and the Atlantic Ocean, then ride back to Sol Legare Road.
After coming back over the James Island Expressway, all riders will take Broad Street to Church Street, see part of Market Street, and back to the start via East Bay, where the 30-mile riders will return to the start of the ride, and the 60-mile riders will have 15 miles ahead of them. The 60-mile course continues on East Bay, goes over the scenic Arthur Ravenel Bridge to the USS Yorktown and Patriots Point and back up Patriots Point Boulevard to the new Mount Pleasant
Waterfront Memorial Park and back over the Ravenel Bridge and down East Bay to the start (for the third time). See a map of the route (PDF).
Last year most folks did not enjoy the Ravenel Bridge due to the very steep climb from the Mt Pleasant side, which is much more difficult on sore legs than the gradual climb from the Charleston side.
There will be rest stops every 15 miles with home made treats, eats, sports drink, and water. We will also have clothes drops, so you can shed a layer as the temperature rises.
Support vehicles will be on route with two way radio communications. SAG support from TRYSPORTS!
Walk ups are welcome Friday. Pick up your packet or sign up at the Fitness Expo from 11am-8pm. (the same day runners pick up their packets). You can also pick up your packet if you are pre-registered on Sunday before the ride. There is a parking garage at Calhoun Street and Concord Street, one block from the start.
